Let’s Try It! Product Review: Afroveda’s Shea Alma Whipped Butter Cream
This is the first in a series of reviews that I will have on natural makeup, hair and skin care products. Fellow naturalista, Latoya, shared her thoughts with us below on Afroveda’s Shea Amla Whipped Butter Cream. Afroveda products are handmade, using herbal and natural ingredients to promote healthy hair. The products are designed based on the principles of Ayurveda, an ancient Indian philosophy of healing.
My hair is natural, coarse, and extremely dry. Keeping it moisturized properly is a challenge for me, because I exercise and sweat a lot. I wash my hair at least twice a week.
I tried the Shea Alma Whipped Butter Cream after receiving it from a friend with natural hair. I applied the butter to the ends of my hair, plaited it, and went to bed. When I woke up the next morning, my hair still retained its moisture and retained it for most of the day. This is one of the best moisturizers I have ever used for my hair! I like it because it is water-based, with no mineral oil or lanolin.
This Butter is a must-have for those with thick manes. I would not recommend it to someone with thin tresses, however, because it is very heavy. Also, for those of you–like me–who are gym rats, this is the product for us.
Thanks for the review, Latoya! Have you tried Afroveda products? What has worked for you?

The Shea Amla is definitely one of my faves for moisturizing. I also like the Totally Twisted Ginger Almond butter although the scent can be overpowering at times. My daily “go to” is the PUR whipped jelly which works wonders for my edges without flakes or build up.

Hmmm, I will definitely put PUR whipped jelly on my list of products to try. Thanks, NewRibena!

My Hair type fits the same scenario mentioned above. I too work out frequently during the week as well. I will ensure to give the product a try to see how it works.

I have recently tried this line and I really like it. I haven’t tried the Shea Amla, but I’m quite sure it is awesome. I have tried the Pitta Hair Care set, growth oil, curl define, whipped jelly, and hemp lock-twist butter. They all work great on my hair. These products have really made a difference in my hair. No more product junkie days for me.
Take care!

I tried the growth oil too. I didn’t take the time to see if it worked. I just liked the tingly feeling on my scalp, lol.
